I've always had tremendous issues with dressing up in winter. Yep, I'm definitely a summer girl and am unable to look stylish and feel warm at the same time. At least I'm trying to. So every year when snow and low temperature loom large on the horizon, I become so stressed out about the winter shopping, I never can find something acceptable both for me and my parents (who obviously need to pay for the stuff) and end up wearing sneakers and my mum's autumn (not very thick though) coat. I've literally visited every shop (as every year) and was on the edge of crying and shouting in the middle of the shopping centre, but fortunately I've found the shoes and the coat I love & feel cosy in (soon on the blog, stay updated!). I decided that maybe some of you are also looking for some winter coats since they literally ARE the look we're wearing during those frosty days. Tell me if you like my picks! I have to mention - I wanted to buy a baby blue oversize coat lat year and also this season but I can't find the perfect one - it's either too big, made of a low quality material or far too expensive. Any hints?

So I love the coats in the shape of the first one but I haven't bought mine yet. And there's nothing better than pastels on the coats! These were in all the fashion shows, simply making our grey reality more colourful and happier.

Jakiś czas temu wybrałam się do kina na film poświęcony jej postaci i spodobał mi się tak bardzo, że Monako dopisałam do swojej listy 'Miejsc które muszę odwiedzić przed śmiercią' (jakaż optymistyczna nazwa), a Dziewczynę z prowincji dodałam do listy 'Filmów do obejrzenia' (jestem maniaczką list wszelkiego rodzaju). Nina Garcia, redaktorka działu mody w 'Marie Claire' kiedyś napisała w swojej książce The Little Black Book of Style, że każda kobieta powinna przynajmniej raz obejrzeć Złodzieja w hotelu z Grace Kelly, żeby wiedzieć jak należy się ubierać (z ciekawości wygooglowałam tę nazwę, a wśród fotosów z filmu powstałego w 1955 r. najbardziej urzekł mnie obraz jej z Carym Grantem z Lazurowym Wybrzeżem w tle, ubranej w zwykłą białą koszulę, szarą mini i espadryle, a emanującej swoją wieczną elegancją). Jej znakami rozpoznawczymi był sznur pereł, kaszmirowy golf, dopasowany tweed, jedwabna szmizjerka i, nazwana na jej cześć, torebka od Hermès "Kelly". Jej ślub z księciem Rainierem został uznany przez magazyn "Time" za najbardziej romantyczne wydarzenie od czasów Romea i Julii.

Grace Kelly was born on November 12, 1929 in Philadelphia. Known as a great actress, winner of the Oscar and the Princess of Monaco as she was Prince Rainer III's wife and, what is the most important part of her life to us in this post, a style icon. Some time ago I went to the cinema to see a movie devoted to her and her achievements as the princess. I loved it so much I added Monaco to the Great List Of Places I Need To See Before Death (what an optimistic name) and The Country Girl was attached to the list of The Movies To Watch (yes, I love making lists. I really do. And I do it all the time. Silly me). Nina Garcia, the fashion journalist working at magasines such as Elle and Marie Claire wrote in her book The Little Black Book of Style that every woman needs to watch, at least once, To Catch a Thief starring Grace Kelly to know how to dress up (beacuse of my curiosity I googled the title and among the pictires form the movie originally made in 1955 I loved the one showing a lovely blonde with Cary Grant, sitting in Cote d'Azur, wearing a casual, white shirt, grey mini and espadrilles but still looking so elegant). Her trademarks were pearls, cashmere turtleneck, tight tweed, silk shimmy and, named after her, Hermès "Kelly" bag. Her wedding with the Prince Rainer was titled the most romantic event right after Romeo and Juliet by the 'Time' magasine (I can't object to that, but I remeber Princess Kate and Prince William better, my age, you know).

Film z Nicole Kidman w roli głównej opiera się na jej życiu po ślubie, pokazuje jej wybór pomiędzy rodziną i życiem w królewskim pałacu, a powrotem do aktorstwa w obliczy ciężkiej sytuacji politycznej Monako. Grace nie była tylko świetnie ubraną kobietą, wybitną aktorką, ale też matką swoich poddanych i wierną żoną - porzuciła pomysł gry w filmach, by zaangażować się w politykę i koniec końców nie doprowadzić do krwawej wojny.

The movie starring Nicole Kidman (I may not be the biggest fan of her, but she was great for the role!) shows her choice between the family and a remarkable (not that remarkable as it might seem, but let's say that we all dream about it) life in a palace, and her willigness of coming back to playing and acting in the background of the tough Monaco's political situation. Grace wasn't only a well-dressed woman but she was also a mother for her lieges and a faightful wife. She left the idea of working in Hollywood to get involwed into politics and, at the end, prevent everone from the bloody war.

Nie mam z Grace za wiele wspólnego - nie noszę tak często eleganckich sukienek, pereł, ani nie zastępuję paska apaszką. Jednak do tej sesji postanowiłam wczuć się trochę w rolę i przygotować dla Was coś zainspirowanego tą postacią. Włosy spięłam w kok i zebrałam perłową spinką należącą do mojej mamy albo babci (w każdym razie dość starej by zyskać miano vintage), a zamiast topornych butów na grubym obcasie wybrałam klasyczne, skórzane i przede wszystkim wygodne mokasyny (zakładam, że w czasach Grace kobiety zwracały większą uwagę na komfort noszenia i jakość materiału z którego wykonany został but - księżna Monako na pewno nie założyłaby plastikowych sandałków). Co do sukienki, nie chciałam być dosłowna, nie mam na sobie więc rozkloszowanej midi, góry bez ramiączek i sznura pereł. Jest jednak klasycznie i skromnie, bardziej KARDISE-owo ;)

I don't have much in common with Grace - I don't wear elegant dresses so often, pearls neighter, nor I replace belts with scarves. But for the photoshoot I decided to fit in the role and prepare for you something inspired by her. I fastened my hair in a bun and put a pearl hairclip belonging to my mom or grandma (old enough to be treated as vintage). Instead of heavy high heels I wore comfortable moccasins (I bet that the women in Kelly's times were more caring about the comfort and the quality of a shoe). I didn't want to be a copy of my icon, so I didn't go for a flared midi, no-straps top and pearl necklace; I wore a frugal white dress, more classical and more KARDISE's style :)
